Position Title: Yard Hostler Driver

Location: Customer Facility (Primary Worksite)

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Hostler Driver to support daily trailer movement operations at a dedicated customer location. This position is primarily responsible for moving trailers within a customer's yard, staging equipment for loading and unloading, and maintaining organized trailer flow throughout the facility. The majority of work is performed on a single site, with occasional trips to a secondary company yard located a few miles away.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely move loaded and empty trailers within the customer yard.
• Spot trailers at designated loading and unloading docks.
• Relocate trailers to staging, storage, and parking areas as directed.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractors and trailers.
• Report equipment defects, damage, or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate trailer location and inventory information.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, dispatch, and supervisors.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and customer site requirements.
• Occasionally transport trailers or equipment between the primary customer location and a nearby secondary yard.
• Assist with general yard organization and housekeeping as needed.
• Operate hostler trucks, yard tractors, or road tractors in a safe and professional manner.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Current DOT Medical Card.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces.
• Strong safety record and commitment to safe operating practices.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Preferred

• Previous hostler, yard jockey, or yard spotter experience.
• Experience operating day cabs, yard tractors, or terminal tractors.
• Familiarity with warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environments.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent climbing in and out of tractors.
• Walking throughout the yard.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and climb as required.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
